The Vancouver Canucks are in need of goaltending help from the Abbotsford Canucks of the American Hockey League over the next few weeks as Thatcher Demko is set to miss some time with a lower-body injury.

With the Canucks set to take on the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday as they continue their nine-game home stand, Patrik Allvin made the decision to bring up someone with NHL experience and who had an MVP performance for his country at the 2023 IIHF World Hockey Championship - Arturs Silovs.

"Arturs Silovs now listed on #Canucks roster" Jeff Paterson said in a post on X.

Silovs, 22, has appeared in 33 games this season for the Abbotsford Canucks where he's put up a record of 15-11-6 with a 2.74 goals against average, a .907 save percentage and four shutouts.

Canucks goaltender Casey DeSmith will get the majority of the starts between the pipes between now and when Thatcher Demko is healthy, but there's a good chance Arturs Silovs will get into at least a couple of games. Last year, Silovs appeared in five games for the Canucks, winning three and losing two, so even though he has minimal experience at the NHL level, it's still a positive for the Canucks that they can confidently turn to him, if needed.
