Reports have indicated that the New Jersey Devils and Calgary Flames have discussed a deal for former Canucks goaltender Jacob Markstrom.

The two teams may have been on the cusp of a deal as Markstrom reportedly even agreed to waive his no-trade clause.

I think it did get to his level to approve it; there were no issues. Somehow, along the way, that trade was scuttled. I don't know how & don't know why. But, they were pretty close to nailing it down.,
Frank Seravalli reported on Daily Faceoff's Morning Cuppa Hockey.

Elliotte Friedman has also reported that while a package was generally agreed upon, the Flame's reluctance to retain salary may have gotten in the way.

Seravalli adds that with the deal falling through, he expects the Devils to look elsewhere for goaltending.

We'll see if Markstrom finds himself a new home this season.
