NHL Insider Doesn't Believe Pending UFA Brock Boeser Will Return to the Vancouver Canucks

With free agency still a little over five months away, one NHL insider doesn't believe that Brock Boeser will be returning to the Vancouver Canucks.
The Vancouver Canucks have several players on their roster who are set to become free agents this summer, most notably 27-year-old forward Brock Boeser.
Boeser has been with the organization since 2015 when he was selected 23rd overall by the Canucks and is just six goals shy of 200 for his career, scoring 20 or more in a season on five occasions, proving that he's a big part of this team's offense.
After setting a career-high in goals (40) and points (73) last season, it was going to be tough for the Burnsville, Minnesota native to top that and so far in 2024-25, he's registered 15 goals and 12 assists in 37 games.
With the dip in production, it could lead Brock Boeser and his camp to lose a bit of money in contract negotiations, whether that be with the Canucks or another team as of July 1st.
However, with his production down, the Vancouver Canucks and Patrik Allvin could cash in here, getting him under contract for around $8 million per season and hope that he can get back to above the 30-goal mark next season, which would make that deal look quite good when considering
the salary cap will be rising significantly.
Darren Dreger believes Brock Boeser won't return to the Vancouver Canucks
Dreger said that he doesn't believe that Brock Boeser will return to the Vancouver Canucks, meaning that he's likely free agency bound on Canada Day.
If the Vancouver Canucks and Brock Boeser's camp aren't able to come to an agreement on a contract over the next month, it wouldn't be a shock to many people if he's ultimately traded by the deadline on Friday, March 7th.
Patrik Allvin could get a pretty solid haul for Brock Boeser and with the need for secondary scoring among contending teams, perhaps we could see the Canucks forward fetch a first-round pick, but it's too early to say.
