An NHL insider says that Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser may be priced out of the city due to what he could command on his next contract.

We're a little over two weeks away from the National Hockey League's trade deadline for the 2024-25 season and the Vancouver Canucks could be busy, with teams reportedly expecting Brock Boeser to be available ahead of March 7th.

Pending unrestricted free agent Brock Boeser is one name to keep an eye on ahead of the trade deadline as with contract negotiations between his camp and the Canucks non-existent, Patrik Allvin could opt to move him for an asset or two, rather than losing him for nothing on July 1st.
On a recent edition of Sekeres and Price TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger shared that Brock Boeser may have priced himself out of Vancouver and the money he could command is likely more than the Canucks are wanting to spend.
Dreger discussed that he doesn't blame Boeser's agent for wanting to play hardball right now, especially with the recently released cap projections for the next three seasons, with it set to hit $113.5 million USD for the 2027-28 season.
"Yeah I mean there would be a buzz. Again, you guys know this guy well. Seems to be a really popular player in that market right? And you know, when you look now at the cap projections, who blames Ben Hankinson for playing hardball? And I know there have been some numbers that have been thrown out there, specific to what his market value might be. You're not going to know that until actually, you know, get into the market and that's the job of Hankinson and every player agent. But now, it's been pushed to the side is the calendar and even though Year 2 and Year 3 of the cap projection that was released recently by the league and the players association, somewhat is written in pencil and could be adjusted. You're not talking about a significant change I don't think. I don't believe that will be the case." Dreger said.

He went on to add, "Brock Boeser on the open market is going to command a high dollar. More money I think than the Vancouver Canucks are going to want to spend."
Boeser, 27, has taken a little bit of a step back when compared to the career-year he had in 2023-24, and so far in 48 games this season, he's registered 35 points (18 goals, 17 assists), 16 penalty minutes and is a minus-15.
If the Vancouver Canucks do decide to trade him before March 7th, there won't be a shortage of teams lined up to acquire him, which could lead to a bidding war and a big return for Patrik Allvin.
