Kevin Lankinen Pulled After Rough Start Against Team Canada
Many fans were actually quite shocked that Kevin Lankinen was given the nod to start his second consecutive game as Finland's other options Juuse Saros is his former teammate and starter when they both played for the Nashville Predators.
But after signing with the Canucks in the offseason, with injuries to Thatcher Demko, Lankinen was forced to step up and has proven to be one of the most consistent goalies in the NHL this season.
Unfortunately, his night game was cut short after giving up 4 goals on 12 shots, victim to Connor McDavid, Braden Point and 2 by Nathan McKinnon.
Kevin Lankinen's afternoon is over as Juuse Saros takes over in relief 😳
When looking at the statistics for the game, it may appear that he was the one at fault but in reality, there was not much he could have done when playing team Canada's top dogs.
Now that his night is done, he can start focusing on the rest of the NHL regular season with the Canucks as they continue to make a push for a playoff spot in the western conference.
