It's been a solid season for Vancouver Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk and he's proving that Patrik Allvin made the right decision in signing him back on July 1st.
As is the case every year, teams will try and target certain players, but ultimately miss out on either trading for or signing them as an unrestricted free agent and in 2024, there's one name that the Canucks were linked to quite a bit -
Jake Guentzel.
Facing a cap crunch of their own head of free agency,
the Hurricanes traded Jake Guentzel to Tampa Bay, where he signed a monster seven-year contract worth $9 million per season, leaving Patrik Allvin and the Canucks searching for a new target.
Jake DeBrusk proving so far that Patrik Allvin made the right choice
As highlighted in a post on social media from Noah Strang of Daily Hive, the Vancouver Canucks are probably smiling quite a bit thanks to the production so far this season from Jake DeBrusk.
In terms of value and production, the Canucks have received a pretty good return-on-investment so far from Jake DeBrusk - 25 points in 34 games for someone earning $5.5 million annually, while Jake Guentzel is making $3.5 million more per year, and has just three more points than the Edmonton native.
It's safe to say Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks are happy with the play and production so far from Jake DeBrusk and hope he'll be able to sustain this for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
