The 4-9-1 Predators can't be too pleased with themselves after they let Sherwood and Lankinen go. The pair have been major pieces to the success of the Canucks this season, as Lankinen Holds a 6-0-2 record, leading all goalie with a 2.09 goals against average and is 5th in save percentage (.923 S%).
Sherwood has been a little ball of hate, leading the entire league in hits with 79, and is on pace to break the single season NHL record of 383 previously set by former teammate Jeremy Lauzon.
After being major buyers in the offseason, the direction the Predators are going in is smelling like an incoming rebuild, and now all 31 NHL clubs are kicking at the door to get their shot at their talent, and the Canucks are front runners.
Roman Josi
The two names the Canucks will be circling on their drawing board is Captain Roman Josi and Dante Fabbro.
Realistically, it will be difficult for the 'Nucks to have a chance at the Norris Award winner, but it does not mean they will not put their best foot forward. He has 1 goal and 7 assists for 8 points in 14 games, a slow start by his standards, still provides unmatched 2-way talent and leadership.
Dante Fabbro
The option that makes the most sense is 26-year-old Dante Fabbro. His talents on the right side of the blue-line, which the Canucks desperately need help with are a solid pick. He may not be the shiniest player to acquire, but with his recent scratches in the lineup, the Canucks can get hm for cheap, and sometimes a change of scenery is all it takes for a young player to turn it around. Don't forget, he provides much higher upside than other players slotted in on the Canucks.
Regardless of the outcome, the Preds are going to be entering a rebuild sooner rather than later, and the Canucks have enough assets to give up in order to make a push for a solid player, the only question is how much Patrik Allvin is willing to give up.
