Referees turn a blind eye to an obvious Connor McDavid high stick
Too often, the officials have changed the outcome of the games with some lack of consistency. As the Canucks play the Oilers in this second-round matchup, the officials found a way to be consistently inconsistent.
They demonstrated a perfect example of how certain players receive special treatment. The game is at its tightest, and a power play, especially a four-minute one, could definitely switch the game's momentum.
As Connor McDavid went by, his gesture led his stick right to Quinn Hughes' face, which had him bleeding seconds later.
What's truly interesting here is that since Hughes was bleeding, even the line judges could have called the penalty since it was a double minor. Instead, they are trying to let us believe that four of the best-trained stripes in the world couldn't see a play of this sort happening right under their eyes.
