Saturday's loss to Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers was a tough one for the Vancouver Canucks. They allowed seven goals in the loss, the most they've given up in a single game this season.
It also highlighted that, at home this season, the Vancouver Canucks have just simply not been good enough and if you're going to have success in the NHL, you need to win the majority of the games in your own building if you want to reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
In six games at Rogers Arena this season, the Vancouver Canucks have a record of 1-2-3, meanwhile on the road, they've been fantastic, winning six of seven contests.
While it's still very early and not anywhere near time to panic, it's still tough to see when considering the Vancouver Canucks were one of the best home teams in the entire National Hockey League last season with a record of 27-9-5 at Rogers Arena during the 2023-24 campaign.
That strong home record propelled the team to a Pacific Division title and helped them reach the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Goaltending has also been a bit of a problem at home this season for the Vancouver Canucks, but it's been great on the road. According to Sportsnet Stats, the Canucks have the worst goals against average (GAA) in the NHL at home, sitting at 4.58, and have the second-best in the league on the road - 1.99.
The good news for the Vancouver Canucks is that they still have 35 games remaining on their home schedule, with the next one set for tomorrow night against the Calgary Flames as they look to make Rogers Arena one of the tougher barns to play in.
