U.K. Police Re-Bail Suspect Who Was Arrested For the Death of Former NHL Player Adam Johnson

British Police have extended the bail for a man in the passing for former Pittsburgh Penguin Adam Johnson.

It's been a little over a year since the tragic passing for former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Adam Johnson, who was cut in his throat by a skate during an EIHL game in England back in October 2023.

Police in Britain opened up an investigation and arrested a man just over two weeks following the incident on the suspicion of manslaughter, and was later released on bail.

South Yorkshire Police extend bail on man arrested in Johnson's passing

According to the BBC, South Yorkshire Police have extended the bail for the man who was arrested in this case until January 20th, 2025. Detective Chief Inspector Benjamin Wood commented on the news on Monday morning, saying that the investigation is complex and ongoing, adding that they're continuing to work with the Crown Prosecution Service.

"We have been working meticulously to fully understand the unprecedented circumstances in which Adam sadly lost his life.

"This complex investigation into Adam's death remains ongoing and we are continuing to work closely with the Crown Prosecution Service.

"Our thoughts remain wholeheartedly with Adam's family at this time." Wood said.

Johnson was in his second year in Europe and was off to a hot start with the Nottingham Panthers, registering seven points in seven games. During his time here in North America, Johnson appeared in 13 games in the National Hockey League with the Pittsburgh Penguins, scoring one goal and adding three assists.
