The Vancouver Canucks are close to wrapping up their preseason schedule, but it appears that they may have suffered an injury to a member of their NHL roster on Monday night in Edmonton.
On Tuesday afternoon, Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet told the media that forward Pius Suter is being evaluated for an injury after being banged up during a scuffle with Corey Perry in the final frame of Monday's game.
Pius Suter was trying to trying to tie up Connor McDavid during the third period of Monday's game, which irked Corey Perry. Perry then skated back towards the Canucks forward and dropped his mitts, but Suter didn't feel like dropping the mitts. Perry received the only penalty on the play - two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct.
At the time of writing this on Wednesday afternoon, there hasn't been any further updates on Pius Suter. He's had a tough preseason to say the least, especially in the faceoff dot and if he happens to be injured, more than day-to-day, it could open the door for someone like Aaty Räty to make the opening night roster.
Räty has been quite strong throughout the preseason for the Canucks, appearing in four games where he's registered a goal and an assist and remains with the team after their latest round of cuts on Tuesday afternoon.
We'll have to wait and see in the coming days what Pius Suter's status is and if he'll be good to go for opening night on October 9th against the Calgary Flames.
