Scary Scene: Vancouver Canucks Defenseman Derek Forbort Exits Game After Freak Collision with Alex Newhook
The injury plague for the Vancouver Canucks has claimed its next victim as defenseman Derek Forbort has been forced to leave the game after taking a freak hit by Montreal Canadiens forward Alex New hook.
In what was a freak play in the neutral zone, Derek Forbort accidently collided with Canadiens' forward Alex Newhook that saw Forbort stayed down and appear to be in an immense amount of pain.
He was able to skate off the ice on his own while putting almost no wight on his leg.
More than any other Vancouver Canuck this season, Derek Forbort cannot catch a break when it comes to missing time this season.
Earlier in the season, Derek Forbort announced that he was going to be taking a leave of absence from the team to mourn with his family after his father Keith Forbort passed away.
Then, just two games after returning, he suffered a lower body injury in practice that kept him out for an extended period of time, only seeing him come back recently.
Now, the extent of this current injury is still unknown, but it is likely that Forbort will not return to the game, but further detail will follow if any update comes out about the extent of the ailment.
After signing a $1.5 million contract this past offseason with the Canucks, Forbort has only been able to appear in 12 games this season, recording just 3 assists and a minus 2 +/- rating.
