Sportsnet announces coverage details for Canucks-Oilers series
The Vancouver Canucks will meet the Edmonton Oilers for their highly-anticipated second round matchup, beginning with Game 1 on Wednesday night in Vancouver. In a series that will surely have the attention of the majority of western Canada, Sportsnet has now announced the broadcasting/coverage details for the all-Canadian rivalry (in addition to the other three second round series).
As many fans may have expected, this series is going to be called by none other than Sportsnet's top broadcasting crew consisting of Chris Cuthbert, Craig Simpson, and Scott Oake. Cuthbert's voice has become synonymous with Canucks games and Craig Simpson is notably a former Edmonton Oilers player.
Vancouver enters the series as an underdog against the high-flying Oilers, who dismantled the Los Angeles Kings in five games. The Canucks struggled through a six-game series win against the Nashville Predators on the heels of wins from three separate goaltenders. Rookie Arturs Silovs clinched the series with a 1-0 shutout victory in just his third ever playoff start.
Quinn Hughes, J.T. Miller and company will have a tall task in taking down Connor McDavid's Oilers, who will surely be a much more challenging matchup than the Predators.
Sportsnet's John Bartlett, Gary Galley, and Kyle Bukauskas will man the Bruins-Panthers series, while Harnarayan Singh, Louie DeBrusk, and Sean MacKenzie will cover the Rangers-Hurricanes series (which already stands at 1-0 Rangers).
