Substantial development in Thatcher Demko's recovery progress
The Vancouver Canucks are set to play their fifth game without star goaltender Thatcher Demko after he suffered an injury during Game 1 of their first round series against the Nashville Predators.
However, it appears that he is making big progress in recovery from his suspected lower-body injury as according to Dan Murphy of Sportsnet, Demko has returned to the ice, skating on Thursday and Friday.
"Thatcher Demko was on the ice yesterday here in Nashville and will likely hit the ice today after the #canucks optional skate" Murphy said.
Thomas Drance of The Athletic added that Rick Tocchet has confirmed Demko is progressing in his injury but isn't participating in "invasive drills" just yet.
"Tocchet confirms @sportsnetmurph's report about Demko skating and generally "progressing."" Drance said.
He added, "Notes that while Demko has returned to on-ice activity he isn't participating in "invasive drills." #Canucks"
Demko, 28, has been deemed 'week-to-week' by the club after suffering an injury in Game 1. It's unclear when Demko will be able to return to game action as it has been reported that his injury needs rest and there's not much else that can be done to fix it.
Without Demko, the Canucks will look to close out their first round series on Friday night as they take on the Predators in Nashville at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET.
