After the news regarding Thatcher Demko in the last couple of weeks, the expectation was that, at least in training camp, Arturs Silovs would assume the starting role. It's unclear when Demko will be back to 100 percent health and when he'll be able to play and because of that, there's a good chance that Arturs Silovs would be the opening night starter.
But now, it's unclear if that'll even be the case after a new report came out from the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation regarding Arturs Silovs, after he wasn't named to their roster for the Final Olympic Qualifiers.
In a social media post overnight, the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation announced that Arturs Silovs is dealing with knee ligament inflammation and he won't be added to their roster before today's game against Slovenia.
This is pretty devastating news for the Vancouver Canucks because it's unclear when Silovs would be able to play or how long the knee ligament inflammation will keep him off the ice.
As was the case when they got the news on Thatcher Demko, it's safe to say that Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin is working the phones to see what he can do to bring another goaltender to Vancouver as soon as possible.
