Fans of the Vancouver Canucks are eagerly awaiting the arrival of top prospect Tom Willander and it looks like it won't be happening as quickly as many would've hoped.

The 2024-25 NCAA hockey season came to a close over the weekend at the Frozen Four, with Canucks prospects Tom Willander and Aiden Celebrini advancing to the championship game where they took on Western Michigan University.
In the final, Western Michigan University shocked everyone, winning their first national championship in school history and after the game ended, Tom Willander watch began, but as of Monday morning, he has yet to put pen to paper.

Tom Willander remains at school in Boston, for now

This morning, Vancouver Canucks fans were wondering when Tom Willander was going to sign with the club as he became eligible a little over 36 hours ago.
In a post on social media, Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects gave a bit of an update on the situation, saying that Tom Willander is back at Boston University resuming his classes as of Monday morning.
Robinson went on to add that he wondered if there was an issue regarding bonuses in the deal that was delaying the signing of Tom Willander.
"Instead of flying west to begin his pro career, Tom Willander is back at Boston University and resuming classes this morning.

Everything can change with one phone call, but it's easy to wonder if a battle over bonuses is delaying his signing with Vancouver." Robinson said.
However, Robinson didn't seem too worried about Willander's situation, saying that he's hearing both the Canucks and the prospect's camp are more than fine with the entry-level deal to begin next season, with him then joining Abbotsford for the Calder Cup Playoffs on an amateur tryout.
"I'm hearing both sides are fine with him beginning his ELC for 2025-26, and having him sign an ATO to play in Abbotsford this spring." Robinson said.
Willander, 20, finished his sophomore year in the NCAA with 24 points (two goals, 22 assists), eight penalty minutes and was a plus-19 in 39 games.
The Stockholm, Sweden native was also honored last month by Hockey East - Boston University's conference - as he was named to their Second All-Star Team for the 2024-25 season.
Hopefully the Vancouver Canucks and Tom Willander are able to get a deal done relatively quickly as he would be a great addition down in Abbotsford as they pursue their first-ever Calder Cup.
