Some trade targets have begun to emerge for Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin to consider as he looks to improve the roster ahead of the 2025-26 season.

After a disappointing 2024-25 season which saw the Vancouver Canucks miss out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the fourth time in five years, plenty of change could be on the horizon in British Columbia.
If the Vancouver Canucks want to return to being a contender next year, Patrik Allvin may potentially need to make some difficult decisions with players currently on his roster in order to acquire a big piece this summer.

Trade targets begin to emerge for Vancouver Canucks

In a recent article on Clutch Points, Christopher Hennessy takes a look at three different avenues for the Vancouver Canucks to upgrade their roster in the offseason.
One of those options includes swinging for the fences with Minnesota Wild forward Marco Rossi, who is set to become a restricted free agent on July 1st.
Hennessy says with Rossi's entry-level contract expiring and Minnesota being tight to the league's salary cap due to the buyouts of Zach Parise and Ryan Suter, it could lead to the Wild being forced to move the Austrian forward.
"The Minnesota Wild are up against the salary cap ceiling, and Marco Rossi's entry-level contract is expiring. Just as the cap goes up and the Zach Parise and Ryan Suter buyouts decline, Kirill Kaprizov is eligible for an extension. He could set a new salary record this summer, which would necessitate a trade of Rossi. The Canucks could swoop in and trade for Rossi." Hennessy said.

The other two ways Hennessy believes the Vancouver Canucks could improve their roster include trading for one of Philadelphia's defensemen, such as Cam York or Rasmus Ristolainen or try to land Buffalo Sabres restricted free agent forward JJ Peterka.
The Vancouver Canucks are pretty much set on the blue line next season, aside from a third pairing hole that could be left by Derek Forbort if he hits the free agent market on Canada Day, however that could easily be filled by either Victor Mancini, Kirill Kudryavtsev or possibly Tom Willander, if the club finds a way to sign him.
JJ Peterka would be a great addition to Vancouver's forward group, instantly giving them a young, top-six option who's gotten a lot better in each of his three seasons in the National Hockey League, finishing this year with 27 goals and 68 points in 77 games.
Patrik Allvin will likely be one of the busiest General Managers in the National Hockey League this summer and seems confident that he'll be able to turn things around and make the Vancouver Canucks a playoff team in 2025-26.
