Vancouver Canucks' Jake DeBrusk Showing the Boston Bruins They Should've Signed Him When They Had the Chance
Vancouver Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk is one of the hottest players on the team right now, and you can bet that Boston Bruins fans aren't too happy about letting him go so easy.l this offseason.
With Jake DeBrusk getting off to a slow start to the season, it was starting to look like the Canucks had made a mistake signing him to such a big deal.
DeBrusk had struggled to begin this season, with no goals and just four assists during nine games in October.
But, over the last few weeks, he is doing the complete opposite, and is showcasing to the Boston Bruins that he is worth every single penny he asked for.
There might even be a chip on his shoulder, knowing that the Boston Bruins should have signed him when they had the chance.
It all comes down to his complete level and how DeBrusk is stepping up at just the right time for his new team.
It is hard enough that the Canucks are without stars J.T. Miller and Brock Boeser, and with the team starting a big road trip, it didn't feel like they had much of a chance to keep their road record with the holes in their lineup.
Jake DeBrusk Makes Major Statement with the Vancouver Canucks
Fortunately, when the Canucks faced off against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, Jake DeBrusk was the best player on the ice.
With his big contributions, the Canucks continued their amazing road spell, improving their record to 7-1-0 for games on the road.
DeBrusk has been on a hot streak the last couple of weeks, but the game against the Senators finally proved why the Canucks signed him to a seven-year, $38.5 million deal.
Playing along side Kiefer Sherwood and Elias Pettersson, he found his game as they combined for 7 points collectively, scoring 2 goals himself.
This is what DeBrusk said after the game.
I mean two goals isn't that special. It's a great game don't get me wrong. ... I mean I no think it was more so of my game kind of building. I knew I was going to break through, and it was great play. The first (goal) was an easy tip and the second one was all Woody, and the third one (the assist) was all Woody as well."
Bruins fans were pretty happy when DeBrusk left, saying he was not worth the deal he got with the Canucks.
But nonetheless, he is showing them now that they may have made a mistake not singing him when they had the chance.
