Vancouver Canucks budding star Arshdeep Bains honors dad with first NHL goal puck
It was a special night all around for the Vancouver Canucks, the team celebrated Tyler Myers' 1000th career NHL game while also winning 4 consecutive games. But the biggest story came after Arshdeep Bains scored his first career NHL goal.
Bains, who hails from Surrey, a suburb in British Columbia suited up for his 4 Canucks game this season for his hometown team, and there was a lot of chatter in the locker room that tonight was the night he was going to get his first NHL goal.
Bains spoke with Canuck legends Henrik and Daniel Sedin before the game and even they had a feeling tonight was going to be the night... Clearly they were right.
«I'd been hearing that from a couple guys,» Bains said after he buried the winning goal in Vancouver's 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. «They're all pretty happy for me. And it almost felt like it was meant to be.»
It became a special moment where he was able to let it all sink in as the Pittsburgh Penguins called a standard 30-second timeout right after the goal, which allowed his teammates to come and celebrate the goal with him.
The Canucks doled out hugs and high fives as the Penguins huddled at their bench. Sprong raced down the ice to collect the puck. «I can't really even put it in the words,» he said. «It just happened so fast and all the guys were so happy. It's just a special moment.
Vancouver Native Arshdeep Bains honor father with first NHL Puck
In the post-game interview, Bains credited his parents and when asked what he was going to do with his first ever NHL goal puck, he told reporters that he will gift it to his father.
Bains has received quite a lot of criticism in general for not producing at the NHL level, but everyone here at Canucks Daily knew he had it in him, and we hope hope that this opens the floodgates for many more goal to come.
