As the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers are set to face-off in a much anticipated and first rematch, Conor Garland reacts to being the Oilers new number one villain.

In their most recent matchup, Conor Garland has cemented himself as the Oilers biggest enemy as he drew a brutal cross-check to the face from Edmonton Captain Connor McDavid that resulted in a 3 game-suspension.

He drew the intense retaliation from McDavid by holding and pestering him in the critical final seconds of the contest, clearly sparking frustration.

The biggest frustration if it all is that McDavid can't get his revenge on Garland as he will be sitting out his first of three games tonight (Thursday, Jan 23rd.).

Conor Garland Reacts to Fans Coining Him as their Arch Enemy

After the barrage of hate, threats and taunts that Garland is receiving from Oilers fans online, it is clear that the 5'10 forward could care less about how they feel about it.

«I do not care,» said Garland. «I try to just play each and every day and give forth a good effort every day in practice and games.»

«Whatever happened, happened. I didn't hurt him, didn't slew-foot him, or hit him in the head. I guess they're upset about the hold, but I didn't try to injure him. Whatever comes with that, comes with that.»

It is safe to say that the Canucks may be putting big d-man Vincent Desharnais in the lineup in order to protect Garland as he will 100% have a major target on his back.

If not, the winger has not been shy to ruffle feathers and drop the mitts if need be when he is challenged.

Even head coach Rick Tocchet came to his players defense, saying that the reaction and hate he is receiving is completely unwarranted as he did not injure or do anything outrageous.

«Yeah, he held the guy, so is that [worth] wanted posters? I understand if he smashed him in the face or got in a fight or did something. It's a hold,» said head coach Rick Tocchet.

Whatever the result will be, Canucks and Oilers fans are not going to want to miss out of the potential of a crazy game this evening.
