The Athletic has released their 2025 prospect pool rankings for the Vancouver Canucks organization.

The Vancouver Canucks have added a number of solid players to their prospect pool via last year's NHL Entry Draft, among those being Melvin Fernstrom, Riley Patterson and Anthony Romani, the latter two who are teammates now with the Ontario Hockey League's Barrie Colts.

Fernstrom, Patterson and Romani add plenty of offensive punch to the Vancouver Canucks prospect pool but despite their addition to the organization, the team has seen a slight dip in their ranking, when compared to 2024, by Scott Wheeler of The Athletic.

Vancouver Canucks come in at 21st on The Athletic's Prospect Pool Rankings

The Athletic began releasing their prospect pool rankings for each of the 32 franchises earlier this month and on Sunday, it was the Vancouver Canucks' turn to be featured.

Vancouver's prospect pool has been ranked 21st by Scott Wheeler of The Athletic, a drop of three spots from 2024.

Wheeler says that the Vancouver Canucks have an average prospect pool, while having two legit prospects in Jonathan Lekkerimkai and Tom Willander, their first-round selections from 2022 and 2023, respectively.

"The Canucks have an average pool. They didn't select in the first two rounds of the 2024 NHL Draft, though, and while they still have two legit prospects and about a dozen ones of varying interest, the result is that their ranking slipped slightly in this year's countdown (while remaining closer to the middle of the pack than to the league's weaker pools below them)." Wheeler said in The Athletic's article on Sunday.

Let's take a look at Wheeler's top-13 prospects in the Vancouver Canucks organization right now:

1) Jonathan Lekkerimaki - Abbotsford Canucks (AHL)
2) Tom Willander - Boston University (NCAA)
3) Elias Pettersson - Abbotsford Canucks (AHL)
4) Aatu Raty - Abbotsford Canucks (AHL)
5) Sawyer Mynio - Calgary Hitmen (WHL)
6) Melvin Fernstrom - Orebro HK (SHL)
7) Arturs Silovs - Abbotsford Canucks (AHL)
8) Danila Klimovich - Abbotsford Canucks (AHL)
9) Riley Patterson - Barrie Colts (OHL)
10) Anthony Romani - Barrie Colts (OHL)
11) Kirill Kudryavtsev - Abbotsford Canucks (AHL)
12) Ty Mueller - Abbotsford Canucks (AHL)
13) Nikita Tolopilo - Abbotsford Canucks (AHL)

At the time of writing this, the Vancouver Canucks have a total of six picks in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, potentially more depending on if they end up trading J.T. Miller and/or Brock Boeser before the deadline on March 7th.

General Manager Patrik Allvin will need to capitalize big time, especially with that first-round pick, in order to boost the team's prospect pool in 2025.
