With the Ottawa Senators placing former Vancouver Canucks power forward Zack MacEwan on waivers yesterday (November 24th), the Canucks may elect to pick up him back up.

As reported, it has been an extremely disappointing season so far for the Ottawa Senators, going 8-11-1 through their 20 games and dropping their last contest to our Vancouver Canucks.

Less than 24 hours later, the Sens placed Zack MacEwan on waivers for the purpose of sending him down to the AHL.

To take his place, they called-up second round pick Zack Ostapchuk.

The Ottawa Senators made a pair of roster moves on Sunday.

The club recalled forward Zack Ostapchuk from Belleville, while placing forward Zack MacEwen on waivers." the team announced.

The most likely outcome is that no teams will pick him up and that he will clear waivers, but the Vancouver Canucks may elect to take another chance on him,

Why the Vancouver Canucks should not submit a waiver claim for Zack MacEwan

Despite the rumors, the Vancouver Canucks should not submit a waiver claim on MacEwan.

The 28-year-old bug bodies forward appeared in 55 games with the Canucks over
3 seasons.

He never was a mainstay on the team, going up and down from the AHL and NHL.

Additionally, he only recorded 6 goals and 3 assists for 9 points, along with 69 penalty minutes.

His tenure came to end when Canucks put hi on waivers, where he was eventually claimed by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2021.

It really would not make sense for the Canucks to take another chance on a 28-year-old forward, who does not have any real offensive upside and who was previously placed on waivers.
