Amid a three-game losing streak, the Vancouver Canucks have dropped in a recent power rankings list released by The Athletic on Friday.

The Vancouver Canucks have climbed and fallen in quite a few power rankings since the start of the season from TSN, The Athletic and the National Hockey League.
On Friday, Sean Gentille and Mark Lazerus of The Athletic released their weekly power rankings list and for Rick Tocchet's group, their poor play over the last seven days hasn't done them any favors.

Vancouver Canucks fall in recent power rankings from The Athletic

Since last Friday, the Vancouver Canucks have played three games - in Columbus on March 28th, in Winnipeg on March 30th and back home on Wednesday night against the Seattle Kraken.
The Canucks lost all three of those games by a combined score of 15-7, six of those seven goals coming in last Friday's shootout thriller against the Blue Jackets.
Because of this, Gentille and Lazerus have dropped the Vancouver Canucks from 16th to 18th in this week's edition of their power rankings.
"The vibes have been off in Vancouver all year. A season that began with such hope and promise will forever be remembered for the J.T. Miller-Elias Pettersson rift, the Miller trade and the Pettersson swoon. And now Canucks fans have to worry about their coach leaving given Rick Tocchet's ties to the Flyers. Now they've lost three straight, including a dismal 5-0 loss to Seattle on Wednesday night." Gentille and Lazerus said.

They add, "But there's still one way to make it all seem worthwhile - make a run. It won't be easy, with games against Vegas (two of them!), Dallas and Colorado still ahead. But if the Canucks win out, they very well could leapfrog the fading Wild (or the Blues if they suddenly crash back to Earth) and sneak into the playoffs, after all."

With just seven games remaining in their regular season schedule, the Vancouver Canucks will need a strong finish, likely going 7-0-0, if they want to catch the Minnesota Wild, who are eight points up on them for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference.
The Vancouver Canucks will continue that playoff push, and hopefully climb next week's power rankings, when they take on the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday afternoon at 1 pm PT.
