Vancouver Canucks Forward Kiefer Sherwood tied a National Hockey League record during last night's win over the Ottawa Senators.
The Vancouver Canucks kicked off their six-game road trip on Saturday night with a big 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators at the Canadian Tire Centre.
As has been the case all season long, Kiefer Sherwood has been a wrecking ball for Rick Tocchet, throwing the body at any opportunity that presents itself, which is why he currently has the NHL lead in his, with 26 more than Jeremy Lauzon in second place.
Sherwood is on pace to destroy the current single season record and is proving that the Nashville Predators shouldn't have let him walk to free agency back in July.
Kiefer Sherwood ties NHL record on Saturday night
During Saturday's win in Ottawa, Kiefer Sherwood had yet another double-digit hit game with 10, along with a goal and an assist.
According to Adam Kierszenblad of The Hockey News, Kiefer Sherwood tied an NHL record on Saturday night with his four 10+ hit games in a single season, joining former San Jose Sharks forward Tommy Wingles, who reached that mark during the 2013-14 campaign.
"Because my brain is broken, I went back through the NHL records and found out that #Canucks Kiefer Sherwood has tied the NHL record for most 10+ hit games in the season. He is tied with Tommy Wingles who had four while with the San Jose Sharks during the 2013-14 season." Kierszenblat said.
With the Vancouver Canucks only 19 games into the 2024-25 season, there's no doubt that Kiefer Sherwood will set a new record for most 10+ hit games at some point here, potentially on the road trip, which continues Tuesday in Boston.
Patrik Allvin deserves a ton of praise for the signing of Kiefer Sherwood - a guy who likely was only going to play bottom-six minutes, making $1.5 million per season, but has found a way to elevate his game with 12 points (6 G, 6 A) and 125 hits so far in 2024-25.
