After a difficult loss to the New York Islanders on Thursday night, the Vancouver Canucks looked to bounce back last night as they hosted Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Elias Pettersson has had a strong month of November so far and last night, played a key role for the Canucks in their win over Chicago.
Early in the second period, the Vancouver Canucks were on the powerplay when J.T. Miller finds Elias Pettersson down low beside the net. Pettersson then tips the puck past Blackhawks netminder Arvid Soderblom for his fifth of the season, tying the game up at one goal a piece.
On the next shift, fans in attendance at Rogers Arena showed Elias Pettersson a lot of love, chanting 'Let's Go Petey' loudly at the Canucks had the Blackhawks hemmed in down in their own zone.
It was a tough start to the 2024-25 season for Elias Pettersson, there's no question about it. But as the calendar flipped to October, the Sundsvall, Sweden native looks like himself and in seven games this month, he's registered six points.
If the Vancouver Canucks have Elias Pettersson going, that's a great sign for where this team could be heading. Being one of the highest paid players in the National Hockey League comes with a lot of pressure and responsibility, but lately, Pettersson has handled that well and everyone is excited to see what he has in store for the remainder of the season.
