Toronto Maple Leafs' Ryan Reaves Receives Match Penalty for Vicious Head Shot on Edmonton Oilers Darnell Nurse
Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnel Nurse has suffered an unfortunate injury after taking a vicious headshot by Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer Ryan Reaves.
As the Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers went at one another in a classic Hockey Night in Canada matchup, the night quickly turned negative as Nurse went off the ice with a certified concussion.
In a normal breakout, Darnell nurse collected the puck behind the night, but out of nowhere, Ryan Reaves came barrelling towards him and hammered him to the ice.
Unfortunately for Reaves and Nurse, the principal point of contact was to the head.
Thankfully, Nurse was able to Skate off on his own two feet with the help of his teammates. Ryan Reaves was assessed a 5-minute major match penalty for the incident.
The scene was quite scary as Nurse lied on the ice with little movement, with a lot of blood coming from his face, appearing to be cut by his own visor.
It's a one hundred percent certainty that Reaves will meet the the NHL Players Safety Association and receive supplemental discipline.
Ryan Reaves has always been a polarizing figure in the NHL. He's known for his heavy weight status and amazing fighting ability, but this time, he's taken things too far.>
It was guaranteed that Nurse would not turn to the game, but the extent of his injury is still not known.
