Rick Tocchet has issued a pretty big update on injured goaltender Thatcher Demko on Tuesday afternoon.

The Vancouver Canucks have been without star goaltender Thatcher Demko for over a month now after suffering a lower-body injury which required him to be placed on IR just after the 4 Nations Face-Off concluded.
Demko has been working his way back from that lower-body injury and his recovery took a big step forward on Tuesday as he was in his own net for the Canucks' morning skate.

Rick Tocchet gives update on Thatcher Demko ahead of road trip

Vancouver is set to play their final home game of March tonight against the Winnipeg Jets before heading out on a six-game road trip beginning on Thursday in St. Louis.
When meeting with reporters after the morning skate, Rick Tocchet said that Thatcher Demko will be traveling with the team on their road trip.
"He'll travel, but him getting the full net, I know it's only a morning skate, but for him to get the full net, is a big step for us to see where he'll be at in two or three days." Tocchet said.
One good thing for the Vancouver Canucks on their upcoming road trip is that there are zero back-to-backs, meaning there will be more time for practices and more opportunity for Demko to get on the ice.
As for the injury that Thatcher Demko is dealing with, late last week it was revealed that it's relating to his groin, however it's unclear if it's the same issue that kept him out for nearly three months during the 2022-23 season.
Either way, it looks like Vancouver Canucks fans are getting closer to seeing Thatcher Demko back and if he can return to being that elite goaltender he's shown over the years, it'll be a massive boost as they continue to push for a playoff spot.
Demko, a native of San Diego, California, has appeared in 17 games this season for the Canucks were he has a 6-6-3 record, along with a 2.87 goals against average, an .891 save percentage and one shutout.
