NHL insider Elliotte Friedman recently revealed the main issue in contract negotiations between Brock Boeser and the Vancouver Canucks.

As we approach the end of the 2024-25 season, tomorrow night's game between Vancouver and the Vegas Golden Knights could mark the end of Brock Boeser's time with the Canucks.
Boeser and the Vancouver Canucks have talked throughout the season about a contract extension, with the team reportedly offering him a five-year deal worth $40 million USD, however that was turned down by the pending unrestricted free agent.

Elliotte Friedman reveals main issue between Brock Boeser & Vancouver Canucks in contract talks

During this weekend's edition of Saturday Headlines on Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman discussed the contract negotiations between Brock Boeser and the Vancouver Canucks' management group.
Friedman revealed that the biggest sticking point in contract talks right now is term and that while you can never say never, neither side have been able to bridge the gap.
"I understand the big issue is term. Never say never, but term is the issue that both Boeser and the Canucks have found hard to bridge." Friedman said.

With the two sides unlikely to come to an agreement before July 1st, Brock Boeser admitted last week that he doesn't expect to be back in a Vancouver Canucks uniform next season.
"Honestly, it's unlikely at this point. It stinks. It's unfortunate. I'm just trying to play good hockey and then I'll worry about everything after that. We all know it's been a roller coaster of a year. There's been a lot of different things." Boeser said in an interview with Sportsnet's Iain MacIntyre.

Boeser, 28, has spent his entire career with the Vancouver Canucks - the team that drafted him with the 23rd overall pick in 2015 and made the jump to professional hockey with them less than a year after being selected.
The Burnsville, Minnesota native has recorded 434 points (204 goals, 230 assists), 143 penalty minutes and is a minus-32 in 553 games with the Vancouver Canucks.
If it is the end of Brock Boeser's time in Vancouver, tomorrow night's game at Rogers Arena is going to be an emotional one for the forward, as well as fans in attendance and hopefully, he'll get a loud ovation before he leave the ice one last time as a Canuck.
