Vancouver Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk had a hilarious moment during a second intermission interview with Sportsnet's Dan Murphy.

Jake DeBrusk had a monster game for the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday afternoon in Detroit, propelling his team to a second consecutive victory and fourth win of the road trip.

The Edmonton native scored a hat trick yesterday, the second of his National Hockey League career, with his third of the game coming in overtime to give Vancouver their 13th win of the 2024-25 season.

Jake DeBrusk shares hilarious moment during interview

After scoring a pair of goals during the second period, Jake DeBrusk was interviewed by Dan Murphy of Sportsnet, which led to a pretty hilarious moment.

DeBrusk spoke about the team's mentality in the second period and how it was important to get two quick goals early on while at 5-on-3.

However, DeBrusk said that with the game tied up heading into the third, they need to stick to the game plan and work hard for the next one, but the only issue - they're not tied, as Pius Suter scored late in the period to give the Canucks a 3-2 lead.

"Yeah, obviously with the 5-on-3 it's a big moment in the game. We were able to get two quick ones, hopefully get some momentum, but they evened it up on their powerplay as well. Tied game going into the third, we just got to stay with what we know and get that next one." DeBrusk said.

Murphy interjected by saying, "You are up one, Pius Suter scored.", with the both laughing afterwards.

DeBrusk has been very good for the Vancouver Canucks of late after a bit of a slow start to the 2024-25 season, which is understandable as he was still adjusting to being with a new team, new system and coaching staff.

In 23 games this season, the 28-year-old has put up 19 points (ten goals, nine assists), ten penalty minutes and is a plus-seven.

Jake DeBrusk and the Vancouver Canucks will wrap up their six-game road trip on Tuesday night with a stop in the 'State of Hockey' to face Kirill Kaprizov and the Minnesota Wild, with puck drop coming shortly after 5 pm PT on Sportsnet Pacific.
