It was a milestone weekend for a pair of Vancouver Canucks prospects who are playing in the American Hockey League with the Abbotsford Canucks.
The Abbotsford Canucks played host to the Colorado Eagles, AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, on Saturday and Sunday, and it was quite a successful weekend for the club.
Abbotsford won both their games over the Colorado Eagles by a combined score of 11 to 3, with
Jonathan Lekkerimaki picking up four goals on the weekend.
With the Abbotsford Canucks securing the two victories, they couldn't have done it without a pair of forwards - Arshdeep Bains and Linus Karlsson.
The two forwards may have played less than ten games each so far this season, but there impact has been felt and it's led to both of them reaching some impressive milestones over the Colorado Eagles.
During Saturday's game, Linus Karlsson scored a pair of goals, which brought him to three on the season and more importantly, he's now reached the 50-goal mark in his time in the American Hockey League.
As for Arshdeep Bains, who's been up and down between Vancouver and Abbotsford this season, he registered three points (one goal, two assists) in Saturday's win, which now gives him 100 career points in the American Hockey League.
Defenseman
Christian Wolanin also reached a milestone of his own over the weekend, making his 100th appearance as a member of the Abbotsford Canucks after joining the club while signed to an NHL contract with Vancouver for the 2022-23 season.
The Abbotsford Canucks are heating up and have now won six of their last eight games and currently sit third in the AHL's Pacific Division with a record of 12-10-1, four points back of the second place San Jose Barracuda.
Bains, Karlsson and the rest of the Abbotsford Canucks will look to keep things rolling this weekend as they host the Manitoba Moose, AHL affiliate for the Winnipeg Jets, for a pair of games.
