With Arturs Silovs getting a demotion to the AHL Abbotsford Canucks, the Vancouver Canucks have decided to make a bold move and call up young goalie prospect Ty Young, who only has 2 professional games under his belt.

With a lack of room for him at the AHL level, he was sent down to start the year with the ECHL Kalamazoo Wings, but he quickly showed that he did not belong.

In his ECHL debut against the Cincinnati Cyclones (October 27th), Ty Young showed out in dominating fashion, stopping 38 out of 39 shots faced.

With two masterful games in the ECHL, where he has achieved a ridiculous 1.01 goals against average, 0.974 save percentage, and stopped 74 out of 76 shots faced, Young finally got his chance to go back up when Jiri Patera was sidelined with an injury.

The 2022 fifth-round pick started the season on assignment to Kalamazoo, where he was lights out with a .974 SV% and 1.01 GAA in a pair of games

With Young was called up just a few days ago to the Abbotsford Canucks of the AHL, he did not even get a chance to suit up for one single game at the American Hockey league level before his dream came true to go join the big club in Vancouver.

Although Young has limited pro experience, the organization clearly sees a lot in his abilities as the 6'3″ goaltender achieved a .903 SV%, 2.79 GAA, one shutout, and a 23-11-0 record in 37 appearances for the Prince George Cougars of the WHL.

It is unknown if Young will make his NHL debut on Tuesday (Nov 12) when the Vancouver Canucks faceoff against the Calgary Flames, but it would be one heck of a story, for a goalie to make his NHL Debut with only playing to ECHL games and zero AHL games.
