As the Vancouver Canucks kick off their 8-game road trip against the Calgary Flames tonight, head coach Rick Tocchet has announced his starting goalie to try and get back into the win column.

The Vancouver Canucks season is currently teetering in the balance as they are just one regulation loss away from sliding out of a playoff spot, and it comes after one of their worst collapses in recent memory to the Seattle Kraken.

Vancouver Canucks Announce Kevin Lankinen as Starting Goalie fot Matchup With Calgary Flames

In order to try and keep the playoff contention as it is, Rick Tocchet has given the starting duties back to Kevin Lankinen, who has been absolutely phenomenal on the road.

Thatcher Demko would want the net Tuesday in Calgary to make amends for a couple of goals Saturday he'd like to have back. But Kevin Lankinen is 10-1-1 on the road and will start - Kuzma

Now obviously, Thatcher Demko would want to get another crack in net to try and make up for arguably his worst performance of the season against the Seattle Kraken.

But unfortunately for him, since coming back from his injury that kept him out for several months, Demko has not has bot been the best nor most reliable netminder, recoding a 2-1-3 record, a .879 save percentage (S%) and averaging 3.43 goals against.

«When you're out for that amount of time, your mind wanders for sure, but it comes back to control what you can control,» stressed Demko. «It's human nature to start gripping too tight or worried about what the future might hold.»

His counterpart Kevin Lankinen has been quite the opposite, saving the Canucks in many games and achieving a 10-1-1 record on the road, even breaking the record for winning his first 10 away games.

Lankinen is tied for fewest losses, second in wins, GAA (2.06) and shutouts (2), and third in saves percentage. He starts tonight.
