BREAKING | Canucks select local defenceman with 89th overall pick
The Vancouver Canucks held the 89th overall pick in this year's draft and continued with the theme of selected a defenceman, for the third time in as many picks.
With the 89th selection, Allvin drafted Kamloops native Sawyer Mynio, who played for the Western Hockey League's Seattle Thunderbirds. The 6'1", 173 pound left-shot blueliner was ranked 62nd among North American skaters by National Hockey League Central Scouting.
Mynio, 18, took a big step in his development during his second season with the Seattle Thunderbirds. In 68 games, he recorded 31 points (five goals, 26 assists), 40 penalty minutes and was a plus-50. He added four points (one goal, three assists) in 19 WHL Playoff games.
