LATEST | Canucks make an announcement regarding the team's top prospect Tom Willander
The Canucks used their 11th selection to draft a much-needed right-handed shot defenseman.
From the perspective offered in the scouting reports, the Canucks couldn't have asked for a better player since he precisely fits what they need. 6'1'' and 180 pounds at only 18 years of age, an agile skater and gifted puck transitioner, he's precisely the kind of two-way defenseman the Canucks need in their pipeline.
In lieu of their Building Blue program,' the Canucks released their first video on their newest gem. The Swede made sure that everybody knew what his intentions were coming into the Canucks organizations, and it definitely gives lots of hope for the future:
'I want to be a top defenceman on a team and someone who can lead a team to a championship. That's my goal.»
The fact that he transitioned from forward to defenseman only two years ago leads everyone to believe there is still much room to grow and develop his abilities at both ends of the ice.
He'll be lining up for Boston University this year, in the NCAA's 1st division, where he'll adapt to the North American style of play.
