BREAKING | Miller makes a really intriguing statement about accountability when asked about the team's newest leadership group
The Canucks traded their captain Bo Horvat last week and Rick Tocchet has now made his formal announcement of the team's new leadership group.
We already knew that Elias Pettersson was going take on a bigger role once Horvat was dealt, but so will Quinn Hughes. Both of the youngsters will be taking on leadership responsibilities alongside Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Quinn Hughes.
Tocchet first emitted his comments on the subject :
"It might be a little bit of a push out of their comfort zone. I told them I need them to push the pace around here for me. I need them to set the bar high. They've earned the right to take that next step."
But then J.T. Miller added his comments, and it causing quite the consternation when he used the word accountability. Let it be reminded that one of the suspected reason for Tocchet's in-season hiring was to held Miller accountable :
"If they take that step, this room is going to change big time. Guys like that holding you accountable, that's going to be really good for our group. They're ready for it."
The team revealed they weren't in a hurry to hand the C, though from Tocchet and Allvin's comments on the subject, it was clear that either Hughes or Pettersson would get these responsibilities.
Do you like that Hughes and Pettey now have a bigger role within the team's structure? Can they change the tone within the locker room and set a winning atmosphere? We'll have to wait and see, won't we?
