Best goaltender in franchise history to receive award
Roberto Luongo: Ring of Honour
As confirmed by the team earlier, Luongo will be inducted into the team's Ring of Honour for next season (2023-24). It was unanimously voted from a distinguished group composed of ex-players, broadcaster and team members.
"Roberto experienced many of his career highlights as a Vancouver Canuck and is deservingly viewed as one of the best goaltenders our game has ever seen thanks to those moments. He was a fierce competitor and a tremendous leader for this team, and we are honoured to be able to acknowledge his contributions to this organization and city," said Canucks President, Jim Rutherford.
"Roberto is one of the greatest Canucks of all time and we are thrilled to be able to officially congratulate him and celebrate all his accomplishments with this franchise," added Chairman of CS and E, Francesco Aquilini.
In 8 seasons with the team, Luongo appeared in 448 regular season games showing a stellar 252-137-50 and recording shutouts in 38 of those wins. To this day, Luongo still leads the team for wins and shutouts.
He was also inducted most recently, in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
