Elias Pettersson's agent opens up on the contract talks: Gives a major update on their plans
The Canucks are slowly getting prepared to sign the biggest deal of their existence as Elias Pettersson's extension will be due soon. While some rumblings suggested that Pettersson could want out due to the team's lack of success or clear direction, Pierre Lebrun made quite the revelation.
Lebrun had the opportunity to talk with Pettersson's agent J.P. Barry and it appears that he's very confident that not only the Canucks will be having a sit down regarding an extension as soon as this summer, but he's very confident that both parties will be talking long-term deal. Here's what the agent had to say:
''We've stayed in contact. Elias is thinking about it. I think it's going to happen, we're going to sit down this summer. We're going to talk about staying there long term. That is the plan right now.''
The Canucks selected Elias Pettersson with the 5th Overall Selection in 2017, since then he's developed into the franchise's cornerstone. A brilliant two-way centerman who's only scratching the surface of his potential. At only 24 years old, he had an offensive outburst and collected 102 points.
