The Islanders pulled a blockbuster move to get themselves back in the playoff race. Currently sitting 2 points out of a wildcard spot, the Isles are looking to increase their scoring ability with one the league's leading goalscorer in Bo Horvat.
Though, a fan pointed out a move the Islanders made over the summer that could've provided the team with an offensive oriented centerman for a much lesser cost.
The Islanders traded their 13th overall pick to the Canadiens at the draft to acquire Alexander Romanov and a 3rd Round Pick. The Canadiens then flipped that pick to acquire Kirby Dach. What if the Islanders had just move their 13th to acquire Dach?
They'd have an offensive centerman, Raty as well as their next 1st Round Pick.
Dach has 33 points through 51 games this season whereas Horvat has just about the same amount of goals, though, the Islanders could have Dach, Raty, Beauvilier and their 2023 1st Round Pick instead of Horvat.
Did Lamoriello make the right call? Will he win this move in the long run?
