They allowed a first minute goal & a last minute goal with ANOTHER Bo Horvat goal tucked in between, leaving the Canucks staring down a 2-1 deficit after 20 minutes.
Spencer Martin was beaten on the first shot of the game when Drake Batherson opened the scoring with a tally only 50 seconds into play.
The third period is where things got shaken up, after a huge late 2nd Period goal by Ilya Mikheyev to knot the game at 2.
It began with a barrage from the Canucks with them scoring a pair of goals at 1:16 & 8:18 from Bo Horvat (again) and Brock Boeser respectively, Boeser with his first of the year. Up 4-2 the Canucks traded goals with the Senators including Jack Studnicka's first as a Canuck off a great solo effort in the offensive zone.
Claude Giroux scored to make it 5-4 with just under 3 minute to go off a very weak shot from the near boards, turning the Canadian Tire Centre faithful all the way up.
It wasn't until Elias Pettersson buried an empty netter with 45 seconds remaining in the third period that Canuck fans en masse could relax & take some comfort in knowing their team has the first 2 pts of this back to back.
Petey was owed a layup for all the ridiculous plays he has made this season, but J.T. Miller really did make a nice play on that one.
