Former Montreal Canadiens goaltending prospect Zachary Fucale, who's currently with the Washington Capitals organization, is set to leave North America after the 2023 Calder Cup Final.

According to reports out of Russia, Fucale is set to sign a contract with KHL club Traktor Chelyabinsk.

"As soon as he completes his spell for Hershey, and we get permission from Washington, we will announce an agreement before July 1, when his contract ends, we will make an official announcement." Traktor GM Alexei Volkov said.

Fucale, 28, was once a promising goaltending prospect in the Montreal Canadiens organization after they drafted him in the second round back in 2013. He's spent the majority of his career in the AHL and ECHL, but finally, eight years after being drafted, he made his NHL debut with the Washington Capitals, recording a shutout.

The Laval native has spent the entire 2022-23 season in the American Hockey League with the Hershey Bears where he's sported a 21-11-4 record with a 2.54 GAA, a .902 save percentage and two shutouts. After splitting starts in the regular season with Hunter Shepard, the Bears went with the latter for their playoff run and are currently off to the Calder Cup Final where they'll face either the Coachella Valley Firebirds or Milwaukee Admirals.
