While the Canucks added players like Ian Cole, Carson Soucy, and Pius Suter in the offseason, they went into the season with essentially the same roster that they ended last year with.
Despite that, they're off to a blazing start, sitting comfortably in first place in the Pacific and tied for first league-broad.
On the Dropping the Gloves podcast, Canucks forward Conor Garland said the second half of last season served as an adjustment period to Rick Tocchet's system, and it's paying off now.
I think something underrated was we had that 30 games to get caught up, and we didn't have a lot of turnovers,
Garland said.
Garland said the team lost a lot of leads last year, but now they understand how they need to play when leading.
If the Canucks keep up this pace, that system could earn Rick Tocchet his first Jack Adams trophy.
