The Seattle Kraken has definitely gone from an expansion team to a playoff-bound team faster than expected. Moving closer to the deadline, it was stated that they were expected to be on the buyers' side of things.

The Canucks on the other are more likely to be selling moving closer to March 3rd and since Bo Horvat has not yet signed a contract extension he is listed by many as the ''TOP TRADE BAIT''.

He's young, he's great on faceoffs, he's on pace for 54 goals this season and he comes in cheap with a low $5.5M AAV. As we've seen last year in the Panthers' trade for Claude Giroux, the price for rentals of this quality is quite high, especially if the player shows some will to sign an extension.

Not too long ago, it was reported that the Kraken had inquired about the acquisition cost for the Canucks' captain. A few days later, it was also reported that a team had dropped from the race since the Canucks' had asked for their top prospect.

Darren Dreger was on Sekeres and Price and confirmed the rumor between the two teams when he was asked whether or not they had considered moving Shane Wright for Bo Horvat.

''I checked in with somebody I trust very closely associated, and they were assured that wasn't happening, at least then. That seems a little high."

After such an affirmation, I wonder what they expect to give if they intend to land Bo Horvat. Dreger stated that he thought it seemed a little high for Horvat, but are you expecting less than a top-end prospect?
