One way that Allvin and the Canucks could clear out some salary is by trading forward Anthony Beauvillier, who they acquired back in January from the New York Islanders in the Bo Horvat deal.
The 26-year-old had the best season of his NHL career thus far, recording a new-high in points with 40 (18 goals, 22 assists), along with 24 penalty minutes and was a minus-ten in 82 games with both the Islanders and Canucks.
Beauvillier has one year remaining on his contract with an average annual value of $4.15 million. It may be tough for some teams to take on his full salary, and even though Sas mentions it'll be easy to move him because he has one year remaining on his deal, the Canucks may have to get creative with this deal.
It was noted in yesterday's report that Brock Boeser was no longer a piece Allvin was trying to move on from, would Beauvilier be the logical player to move on from? The Canucks have plenty of wingers, many of them are already left-handed shot, Ilya Mikheyev, Nils Hoglander, Vasily Podkolzin, Dakota Joshua, Phil Di Giussepe and Aidan McDonough.
I've been wondering this for a few weeks now. Beauvillier is much easier to move with only a year left. Plus, no need to surrender assets. #Canucks could wait until a team strikes out in free agency, unless there's a chance to move him at the #NHLDraft https://t.co/vH18Tdg30Z Grady Sas (@GradySas) June 8, 2023
