LATEST | Radio Host calls for this Sunday to be the worst in Canucks history
This Sunday marked game 7 in 2 heavily disputed series, first between the Bruins and the Panthers, second between the Avalanche and the Kraken.
On Donnie and Dhali earlier today, Don Taylor marked Sunday April 30th 2023 as the worst Canucks Sunday. He made an extremely valid point, based on the Canucks latest tendencies.
There's an old saying regarding the playoffs in hockey that says, once you're in, anything can happen. The Panthers were the exact definition of this adamant when they eliminated the top seeding team in the NHL after they had confirmed their playoff spot on the season's 81st game. Here's the point Taylor made:
''The worst Sunday in Canucks History, ..., well, the Kraken finished 17 points ahead of the Canucks, Panthers just 9 more points than the Canucks. Now, Francesco's thinking we're not that far away. Loui Erikson, is he available? Can we re-sign him as a free agent?
The thought is that Donnie believes that Francesco Aquillini could be triggered to try skipped steps and sign veterans to gain the points they need to make the playoffs. Just like the Canucks did when they signed Loui Eriksson, or when they traded Eriksson for Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
The Canucks have had issues with 'trusting the process'. Obviously at that point in time it was a different management group in place, however, the team's ownership was very much the same. Do you believe Aquillini could force Rutherford and Allvin's hands into moving their chips further on the board?
The Canucks may have fallen short of a playoff spot only by a few points, but there is still much work to be done there if the Canucks want to renew with victory be referred to as Cup contenders!
