The USHL Fall Classic was in full-swing this weekend and in case you aren't familiar, it's a showcase event used to kick-off the new season.

Over the weekend, the US National Team Development Program took on the Dubuque Fighting Saints and it's safe to say that this game had one of the strangest endings in quite a long time.

In overtime, US NTDP's Brodie Ziemer had a breakaway, but while on that breakaway, Dubuque Fighting Saints goaltender Kevin Reidler took his mask off as there was a strap loose.

Initially, the referee allowed Ziemer's goal to stand, with the entire US NTDP bench pouring onto the ice to celebrate the victory. But then this is where things get strange.

US NTDP headed back to their dressing room, because they had assumed they won the game and it was over. But after the officials reviewed the play, it was determined that the goal was not allowed to stand and play needed to be continued. The US NTDP needed to be retrieved from their dressing room following the review, in order to resume the game.

"What a weird situation at the Fall Classic

Dubuque goaltender Kevin Reidler had a loose strap and takes his mask off mid-breakaway. Brodie Ziemer scores, initially ruled and a goal, and then overturned.

NTDP was already back in the locker room and had to be brought back out."

Although their initial goal in overtime was called back, the US National Team Development Program was able to find a way to win the game, essentially for a second time.

Do you think the first goal by Brodie Ziemer should have counted? Let us know what you think in the poll below!
