Bedard's junior career came to an end not long ago when his Regina Pats were eliminated in the 1st Round of the WHL Playoffs. While the thought was that we'd get to see more Bedard under the Canadian flag, he turned down not one, but two invitations since he could have gone to the U18s but also to the Men's World Championship. It would have been a great opportunity for the young man to prove himself against men.
It's Jeff Marek that confirmed Bedard turned down the offer:
It's an unusual decision for a draft-eligible prospect to refuse to take part in the World Championship, 18 years old usually prefer to play as much as they possibly can. On the other hand, Bedard has nothing to prove heading into the draft, the right-handed centerman crowned an extremely successful junior career in which he recorded an impressive 271 points in only 134 games (134 goals and 137 assists).
The world's best hockey player, Connor McDavid, capped off his junior career with 285 points in 166 games (97 goals and 188 assists). Will Bedard's domination continue once he takes his first strides in the NHL?
