MAJOR | Darren Dreger links the Canucks and the Flyers in a trade for a particular player
The Flyers cleared their front office, and the new boss is clearing the line-up. They already shipped Ivan Provorov out of Philly, there are tons of rumors floating around concerning the star netminder Carter Hart and the Flyers aren't done.
Forward potentially fitting the Canucks' needs?
The renowned Darren Dreger was on Sekeres and Price earlier today, and they brought up the discussion on the Flyers' fire sale and immediately linked the Canucks to what could potentially be their future 3rd line centerman:
''When I look at the Philadelphia Flyers and I see a guy like Scott Laughton, boy, my antenna goes right up there.'' Laughton, 29, is a 2012 1st Round Selection who's only seen the NHL in Philadelphia. He's just out of his career-best season when he registered 43 points in 78 games. Described as such:
''A pretty all-around player with good leadership abilities. Plays a strong two-way game and reads the game exceptionally well. Not overly flashy, but can put up some points on the board. Good penalty killer and skater. Likes to play the body.''
Laughton is still signed under a reasonable contract through 2025-2026 at a $3.0M AAV. Being in his best years, he fits a win-now ideal and could bring experience to the team.
With his contract and attributes, Laughton surely represents one of the best options to center a 3rd line. If Allvin plans on having a competitive playoff team as soon as next year, adding Laughton to your centerman line, behind Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller, definitely works toward that goal.
