For what Bedard has done so far, especially in his draft year, the hype is certainly warranted. He's broken Canadian World Junior records for most goals and points, as well as for most points in a single tournament. With his junior club, the Regina Pats, the North Vancouver native put up 143 points (71 goals, 72 assists) in 57 games and followed that up by recording 20 points in seven playoff games.
While this scout isn't denying Bedard's talent at all, he's likely wanting readers and hockey fans in general to temper their expectations just a tad and to not think he's going to jump into the NHL right away and become a top-five player.
