NEW INFO: Canucks situation regarding Bo Horvat
Bo Horvat most recently faced the media stating that he would not openly discuss his extension status. He wanted to focus on the team and its success.
Just now, new information has popped up regarding the situation, where it was declared that the Canucks are not willing to go above the $56M they gave J.T. Miller over the summer.
It's been reported that one team would be willing to pursue the Canucks' captain into free agency and go up to $9M/year. $56M through 7 years is an $8M AAV and on an 8-year deal, it represents an $7M AAV.
What seems to be the issue here? Do they not want to have players with too high of an AAV? Or do they simply think that Horvat is not worth as much as Miller?
We'll have to wait and see before coming to a conclusion on this one. One thing that remains certain is that Horvat's definitely pissed off at the way the team's been handling the negotiation with the media. It was reported that Allvin met with him in Calgary to try and patch things up in that matter.
Is this relationship still possible? Or are the Canucks driving their captain out of town?
