TRADE ALERT | Kevin Hayes is dealt to the Blues: Bad news for the Canucks
The deal has been in the works for a few days now, and Kevin Weekes just broke the news that it was being finalized.
It was meant to be a massive trade between the two clubs and presumably the biggest trade in the Flyers' history, but a player refused to waive his no-movement clause. From the reports, the Flyers' centerman is off to St. Louis for a 6th-round pick in 2024.
Hayes carries a $7.14M AAV for the next 3 seasons, but the Flyers will retain half of it, as reported by Frank Seravalli.
Hayes is a big two-way centerman who collected 54 points in 81 games this year in a struggling Flyers line-up.
This is terrible news for the Canucks, who have been trying to trade Conor Garland for a while now. This shows just how hard it is to trade players with term and expensive AAVs.
